Chattanooga Christian School was once at LMPC
In 1980-1981 the Chattanooga Christian School (C.C.S.) was operated in the Sunday School rooms of the Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church. The school then consisted of grades 7 through 12. The principal in those first years was Joel Belz, a graduate of Covenant College who went on to become publisher of World Magazine.
A Christian elementary school was started by the Kelleys, Blalocks, and Eldridges, members of LMPC, in an old building beside RP church near Covenant College. When the high school secured the property of a former Chevrolet dealership on South Broad Street in Chattanooga, the elementary school merged with CCS.
In 1982, Jim Bachmann had assumed the duties of associate pastor at LMPC. For ten years while Jim worked here teaching, preaching, and leading the small-group ministry, he coached basketball at Chattanooga Christian School.
(The author requests additional information on the early years of C.C.S as it relates to LMPC and its members.)
